Gale Simonson

Images must have made a strong impression on me as a child. I still remember a pen and ink drawing in one of A.A. Milne’s books and an illustration from”King of the Golden River” by John Ruskin was a favorite as well.

I enjoy doing portraits, realizing they all become remembrances over time.

The influence of the Southwest comes from my being a New Mexico Native . My college teacher, Ken Barrick introduced me to acrylic painting and abstraction.

I have studied watercolor, colored pencil, and used the interesting gels and paints available in acrylic paints, my preference.
