Dave Shelley

Dave has been interested in drawing since his elementary school days. However, other interests and duties (school, military, then work and family) took up his time and energy until he retired. It was almost 10 years into retirement before he returned to art in 2019 at the age of 72. He is a self-taught representational watercolorist and is learning how to use acrylic and gouache paints.

He enjoys doing animal portraits, flowers, landscapes and buildings. He feels that art is one conduit for people to better comprehend nature and the built environment. But the primary reasons Dave paints is because he enjoys the challenges and because of the calm it brings.
