Jill Riggin

My subject is the natural world around me.  I paint to create a new vision of that world not to recreate it, whether it is the idea of communicating the light and shadow of a landscape, the reaction of the wind blowing through a tree, or the dance of colors representing a flower bouquet

Sometimes I begin my work with play… using watercolor, acrylic paint, pastels and collage in an intuitive manner – from the gut. Other times I will use a photo reference to begin making marks, then will discard it and let the painting speak to me. The conversation between painting and artist is always active.

I hope you enjoy my paintings and the conversations they have with you!
